What happens at the first appointment?

You will be seen in your own home. Firstly we ask you questions about your condition and how it impacts on you. Some clients prefer a family or carer to assist with this. We will then assess how your arm, legs move , how strong they are and coordination. We usually need to have “hands on” in order to feel the movement of the joints /muscles to enable us to feel for stiffness. Obviously we will ask permission before we do this. We will also observe your ability to move around your home e.g standing up from a chair.

Generally the first appointment is mainly dedicated to the assessment process. We also support you to try and identify realistic goals you want to work towards. We will always aim to give you some recommendations and simple exercises by the end of the appointment. We will always be honest about how we can help and what is potentially achievable.

What should I wear?

Just comfortable clothes and footwear that you can move in easily.

How much will appointments cost?

Initial assessment 75 to 90 mins £90

Follow-up 45 to 60 mins £75

These prices include travel for up to 30 mins one way. Further travel will include an extra charge.

Payment is by BACS transfer, cash or cheque.

Please note we do not currently accept payment from insurance companies. If you have medical insurance you will need to check they will cover the cost of treatment first.

How many times will I be seen?

There is no set number of sessions. This will be established on an individual basis. Please note you are never tied into a contract and there is no obligation to continue.

Do I need a referral?

No you can self-refer, however we are happy to accept referrals from other health professionals.

We are always happy to have a chat with you about your situation and whether we can help prior to booking an appointment .

What if I need to cancel the appointment?

Cancellations need to be at least 24 hours before the appointment. However we do understand that cancellations are inevitable and we will try to be accommodating with regards to this. However if there are repeated cancellations within 24 hours then we will need to charge for the session(s).
